Vancouver Fashion week kicked off this week with a bang on Wednesday night. Unfortunately I have been working each night week and have been unable to report up until now. If you want complete coverage of the fashion shows, designers and industry ins and outs head over to the conveyor belt, where the girls cover it all. I will however be in attendance the for the rest of the weekend, and am most looking forward to the emerging designers show on Saturday afternoon. For your convenience I’ve listed the remainder of the schedule for you, for the complete line up check out the Vancouver Fashion Week website.

Vancouver Fashion Week 2008

Photos courtesy of Kris Krug. Kris has been shooting Vancouver Fashion week since Wednesday and has some great photos already that you should def check out.

Its been a number of weeks since the Northern Voice conference has ended but I still wanted to give a little recap of my experience.
The tiki dinner on the opening night was very lovely with volunteers, including myself, reading and sharing previous blog posts and samples of writing. Some funny, some heartfelt, over all a nice touch to the opening party of a geek conference. Also I have to mention the lovely ladies from lipgloss and laptops.. they completely hooked all the speakers up with mac products, and I being the complete mac feen was *so* exited to get the goodie bag.  Apparently mac cosmetics donated a bountiful amount of products… how nice!

The next morning took alot of coffee to get going, but it was worth it as there were many awsome speakers that I just didn’t want to miss. A couple of them to mention are Dave Olson, Alex Waterhouse Hayward, Kris Krug, and Stephanie Vacher.

There was also lots of time to meet other people, get to know some of those familiar faces that I have seen at other events, and share a laugh with a friend or two. I am certainly no seasoned attender at these types of conferences, so my humble opinion may not carry much weight, but for what its worth, Northern Voice has been my favorite one so far.

kdon hats and vintgae coats at discollection

It can be tough to get those funky people in your life just the right thing that you will know they will love. While we here at Discollection can’t help you with relationship problems or paying your rent or dealing with the inlaws or fixing a bad hair day (actually we prolly can help with that one) we do have the solution to your Christmas shopping problems.

If you want to avoid the stressful crowded flouresent lit shopping malls, bumping into people walking in all different directions ladden with bags upon bags….then simply take a stroll to Discollection, have a chat with our awsome staff and buy your friends and family a gift certificate so they can choose their own treasures. We carry vintage, local designer clothes and so much other awsome stuff like jewelry and handmade accessories.

This is what we will do for you… you only have to spend $40 on the gift certificate and we will throw in our own $10, so you can be the Christmas hero, give more, and save money… $50 dollar gift cards for $40… what a concept!!

Tell all your friends and let the giving season begin! See you at the store! And remember… mention you saw my new website and I’ll give you 10% off and take your Polaroid. :)

Made In VancouverIt’s true, yes, I am going to write a blog. You are about to witness the first kdon post on my new little website here. (insert crowd cheering)

So the long and short of it is, I make clothes. This fall/winter will be the launch of my first ever mini collection, which I am totaly stoked about. Fall is my favorite fashion season of all, getting cozy, wrapping up in warm fabrics, layering and the ever faithful knitted scarf makes fall joyous.

To catch a sneak peak of whats to come from my kdon line (and three other local designers), I ‘d like to extend the open invitaion to everyone to come to a fashion show. It will be held at the Alibi room(157 Alexander) on Nov 20, at 7pm.

It is a charity fund raiser for the program WEAVE. The cost is $15 at the door. There will be complimentary appies and an awsome dance/fashion show by the tomorrow collective. Other local designers participating in the showare mono clothing and hunt and gather, there are a couple others that have left my memory now, but I will be back to let you know.

I suppose this concludes my first blog. I’ll be back again… thanks for tuning in, unitl next time, stay cozy, be warm, get a 2 meter scarf and love your enemy. :)

..okay the other designers have come to me.. they are
